Automatic mapping to SSL doesn't happen

I took the decision to move one of my website entirely over SSL. However, the domain mapping doesn't happen.

I can access it with SSL or without but It should automatically redirect.

Of course, I could 301-redirect it in wp-config or in the nginx config file but I would much prefer if the plugin was able to manage it.

    Hello @mattlegrand,

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

The "Force SSL" option (both for front- and back-end) only affects original domain. For example: will be redirected to

but it doesn't affect mapped domains. The setting shown on an attached screenshot also doesn't force SSL connection and only specifies (as set on your site) that if user types-in original domain ( he/she will be automatically redirected to mapped domain ( but the same protocol will be followed as specified by visitor.

In order to force SSL on mapped domain you will want to create additional setup. It may either be nginx redirection, as you mentioned or for example one of the HTTPS plugins for WordPress.

That said, I agree that forced SSL redrection for mapped domains built-in to Domain Mapping plugin would make an essential feature, although I'm not aware if it's on plugin development roadmap already. Therefore I'm moving this post to our "Features and Feedback" forum as a feature request and will also ask plugin developer directly.

    Best regards,

    Hi mattlegrand

I hope you had a wonderful day.

As @Adam Czajczyk said, the reason behind the select box (http://, https://, force none) in domain mapping is "Only for original domain".

But what you are actually looking for is an important feature and I can see that Adam has already moved it to "Features and Feedback" section. Hopefully other members will show their interest in it as well as the more popular the request is the higher priority it will be.

Please let us know if you have any further confusion. We will be glad to help.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!
