best practices for defender

Hi,

When issues are found in defender, is it best to just delete a file or to do resolve?

    Hi cornelius_butler,

Hope you are doing good today.

If it’s a malicious code, deleting the file won’t help much, as we cannot determine what the code must have done to the system. If you ever find your self in such situations, would recommend you to check all the steps mentioned in this doc: https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked

Once done, you can harden your website using Defender under Defender > Hardener to prevent such things from happening. I hope this helps. Please let us know if you still need any further assistance. Have a nice day.

    Kind Regards,

…but Defender only checks WP files for malicious code, not any other files, such as theme or plugins, right?

    Hey Chris,

Hope you are doing good today.

Defender scans for plugins, themes, and the WordPress core files in order to detect any code changes happening in your system. What the plugin does is try to eliminate the risk of any attack by hardening your website, and by running scans throughout your system, which in turn makes your site secure.

You can check the plugin page for more details about it’s feature:
