A clients site is getting slammed with brute force attacks. Will installing Defender stop these attacks? Thanks.

Hi johnrwebster, hope you had a wonderful day.

With Defender you can get regular security scans, vulnerability reports, safety recommendations and customized hardening for your site in just a few clicks. Defender is the analyst and enforcer that never sleeps. But it doesn’t actually controls your server. For managing load on server, you have to control that from server level.

The best way will be using CDN. Because CDN serves sites from different geo-locations and when attack comes to any server, only that specific geo server gets slow down, all other servers run absolutely fine.

You can also use Fail2Ban on your server. You can get details here: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-fail2ban-works-to-protect-services-on-a-linux-server

You can also change your login location. This article will give you full idea: https://managewp.com/change-your-wordpress-login-url

I hope these will help you handle the load. Please let us know if you have any feedback. We will be glad to assist further if required.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!
