Whenever anyone tries to accept a friend request we get an error saying "There was a problem accepting that request. Please try again."

Thank you.

    Hello Mary,

I hope you are having a good day and thanks for asking us.

I am not able to replicate this on my sandbox site so it seems to on your site only, also in past you had this same issue and it was resolved too right ?

Do you remember exactly what steps you had followed to resolved that ? Also have you conducted plugin conflict test on your site ? if not then I suggest you conduct it first, as it will help us to identify possible plugin conflict if there is any.

    Hi Milan,

I'm sorry but I can't remember how this was resolved before. I've tried deactivating all plugins and changing themes but nothing helps. The issue remains and seems to be getting more problems.

    1. Sometimes the person is not notified that they have a friendship request. They don't get the email.

    2. Sometimes, when we get the email and click on the link it says we have no requests at present - when I have just sent them one.

    3. If the request does show up and we click to accept, we get the error message.

    Hello Mary!

Also, I got a friend request but it looks like it came through my CometChat app.

There are two user accounts on your site that seem to be related to CometChat plugin: "cometchat1" and "cometchat2". Both these accounts use e-mails ("support" and "sales") in a "cometchat.com" domain. I'm not familiar with CometChat that much but it looks like either these accounts were automatically created during CometChat plugin setup (and may be acting as a sort of bots) or somebody from CometChat team is registering them on sites that use that plugin.

A quick search on a web shows that the "cometchat1" and "cometchat2" users exist on many sites that are using CometChat. I'd suggest getting in touch with CometChat developers and asking them about that as it's definitely strictly related to this plugin.

As for not working friends request.

I reviewed your site but as an "admin" (using support access) I was able to browse the pages in question with no errors. Could you please try to temporarily disable the "Invite Anyone" plugin and then check for the issue?

If this doesn't change a thing, the main suspect would be "Profile Sync" BuddyPress feature. To confirm that, please go to your dashboard's "Settings -> BuddyPress -> Options" page and un-check the "Profile Syncing" option and then again check the site against the issue.

Let me know about the result please!
    Best regards,

Thank you Adam for this very complete letter. Not to worry about cometchat 1 and 2. I created them as Admin users because I'm having problems with the CometChat app and they are working on it.

Re the other stuff, I will definitely do as you say and get back to you. Thank you so much!
