BuddyPress on Multisite

I am working on setting up a multisite and we want BuddyPress only be active on the main site, not any sub-domain sites. I have added plugins, but when I go to the main site I am not able to activate BuddyPress only there, I only see the option on the network admin. Is there a way around this or something I missed? All I have done is setup the multisite platform and added plugins, haven't activated any yet.

    Hi Dana,

BuddyPress is only able to be network activated. However, this doesn't mean it's available on every site.

Is simply attaches itself to the main site.

Basically, the default set up is exactly what you are after - simply network activate the plugin, choose a BP-compatible theme for your main site and you'll be sorted!

    Got it, thanks!

Can I ask you one more question. I am getting this error now:

Warning: Attempt to assign property of non-object in /home/ocpybkga/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-groups-extras/bpge-loader.php on line 27

I think I'll just deactivate, but what does it mean?
