buddypress theme issues - want to use secondary blog

hey. The theme i'm using 'share it!' is messing with buddypress and i'm not ready to have it customized by an outside developer to allow BP. i'd like to have buddypress on something other than my main site; using a different theme. Who is facile with buddypress to let me know if the * LATEST * version of BP can be set up on a sub-site? (that way I can keep the format of the main page)

i've been to the buddypress site yet it's text on 'setting up on a secondary blog' seems in legacy mode; so i'm curious. anybody over there at WPMUDEV that has this caliber of buddypress knowledge?

    Hey @Griffin, Michael here! :slight_smile:

    The BP_ROOT_BLOG define still works to set the root blog to be on a different subsite, you'd want to insert the define above the "WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE" define, like this, to make sure that it takes effect:

    define ( 'BP_ROOT_BLOG', 10 );

    /* Multisite */
    define( 'WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true );

    define('MULTISITE', true);
    define('SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL', false);
    define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'example.com');
    define('PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/');
    define('SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);
    define('BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE', 1);

    /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    /** Absolute path to the WordPress directory. */
    if ( !defined('ABSPATH') )
    	define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/');

    /** Sets up WordPress vars and included files. */
    require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');

    Hope this helps! :slight_smile:

    Kind Regards,
    Michael
