Can't Verify Google Property

I am trying to verify my site
It is running as a sub-domain in a multisite network. I use domain mapping.

I have tried all different way(Meta tags, HTML file, Analytics) however no matter which one I try, they all come back with the following message:
Verification failed for Your verification file returns a status of 404 (Not found) instead of 200 (OK).

I have checked my site with the tool:
I can't see any errors or figure out why the page is not getting verified.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

    Hello Silvia,
Hope you are doing good today

I have a mapped domain on my MultiSite network and I just verified it with just one click of a button by following the recommended method (see screenshot).

What I did on my WordPress site was configured our very own GOOGLE ANALYTICS + plugin.

Please install this plugin, network activate it and configure it from Network Dashboard -> Settings -> Google Analytics.

Now add your website and verify it by recommended method or Google Analytics method.

Hope that helps! Feel free to post a reply if you need further assistance

    Hi Sajid,

    Thanks for your advice.

I have tried with the google analytics tool and with another plugin, however, both give me this error: The requested URL /wp-content/uploads/cent.php was not found on this server.

Any idea what this could be?

I have also asked my hosting provider.

    Hello Silvia,
Hope you are doing good today

I don't think this error is related to domain verification. Because if you are using Google Analytics method, google will just detect the GA code in the source of that site. If present and matches then verified the property.

That seems to be something else that you need to investigate further and its good call for contacting the hosting support.

I would also suggest you to complete undo all the changes you made in order to verify the domain as well as delete this domain from google webmaster tools and then try again.

Make sure you deactivate all your plugins (except those that required like Domain Mapping and Google Analytics) too while attempting to verify the domain.

    Best Regards,
