Category pages

Hi Guys I hope you are doing wonderful!

I read a post created by Chris Knowles - - I found great! But maybe you guys can help me because I would like to have this design but in my category pages, so I can have a site that really looks like a Magazine.

Can you please help me? Any thoughts?

Thank you very much!

    Hi, BePresence!

To make sure I'm clear, do you want all your category archive pages to look like magazine covers?

Your WP theme (probably) has a template for archive pages, which would cover old posts, author pages, category pages, tag pages, etc. Typically, these pages all display content the same way.

If you want to make a distinct category page you can then style like the magazine cover, I'd start here to make the custom template, than take the advice Chris K. gave in the article you linked to make it work for you.

Good luck! That sounds like a really fun project.

yes what I want is my archives to look like magazine covers, but each one with the posts of each month and the cover image of that particular month.

But how to use Chris article in archives templates? that's what I haven't been able to figure out

That's actually a bit out of scope for what I can help you with in the forum. This link explains how the WordPress template hierarchy works, which would be a good start to understanding how WordPress structures archives based on date, category, tag, and author.

You'll need a custom template for your monthly archives which will allow you to choose a featured image and assign a headline, so each month's archive will be unique.

If that level of custom coding is not something you're comfortable with, can I point you to our jobs board? We've got some incredible developers over there who might be perfect for making this as a custom feature for you.
