Cloned site has HTTPS Issue "Insecure Site"

I used Cloner to create a second site for development/updates.
Two things,

1) I got a lot of "An error has occurred" while it was copying, but the site seems to be fine now. Do you have any insight into what those errors are and if I need to look for things missing?

2) The dev site has the https crossed out in red and I get a google "Insecure Connection" error when I navigate to the page. Does this always happen with cloned sites and how do I fix it?

    Hi Matt,

I just cloned a subsite in my test multisite but I didn't see any error during the process. So I think this is your site specific issue. I could tell you better about the issue if I could see it live, check your current configuration and make some tests on your site. Would you mind allowing Support Access so we can have a closer look at this?

To enable support access you can follow this guide here:
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-dev-dashboard-enabling-staff-login/

Please confirm here when you are done granting Support Access.

Is your multisite Subdomain or Subfolder? If you have subfolder multisite and you have SSL configured for your main domain, then this should not happen. In that case, I can tell you better after checking in your site.

If you have a subdomain multisite, then you will need a wildcard SSL certificate set up on your server. But is the scenario is like this that you can access your subsites under SSL without any issue but cloned subsites are giving SSL warning? Can you please confirm? If your subsites work normally under SSL, then your cloned subsite should also work fine under SSL. So again, I need to check your site configuration.

Please grant us Support Access so we can investigate the issue further. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Matt

    I have opened Support Access.
I did install it on sub-domain. I don't think I understand how to do it with a subfolder, but I would be open to.

I actually might need to re-clone this site, because I deactivated all the plugins to try to figure out how the site was put together (I've recently taken over this site) and now upon reactivating a lot of elements are still not showing up.

    Hi Matt,

Hope you are doing good today.

I checked your website, and created a test site under Sites > Add New, and I'm still getting Your connection is not private, and the issue doesn't seem to be related to Cloner plugin.

Are your looking to implement https in all your subsites? If yes, you'll need to have wildcard SSL certificate configured in your system. With single SSL certificate you can only implement https in your main site, other subsite would show Your connection is not private message.

Could you please let us know how your are looking to configure SSL in your multisite so that we could guide your better. You might find this thread helpful:

Please let us know how that goes, have a nice day.

    Kind Regards,
