Course photo is HUGE and I'd like to change some of the formating

I've changed the size selection and also changed the size of the photo but instead of showing a small thumbnail photo it's a HUGE photo at the top of the page.

There's also an error on the courses page:
Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /home3/azcrush/public_html/travelgeniuses.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 170

I'd also like to have some courses included in the membership, and some more in depth courses at an additional fee. Is there a way to do this?

ALSO - the formatting looks pretty crappy. How can I work with the CSS etc? Is there a way to work with Genesis/Dynamik with your plugins? The bullets are messed up here: http://travelgeniuses.com/courses/build-your-own-travel-site/
And I'd like to change the order of elements etc.
And/or - Can I create a subdomain for my courses and use your CoursePress Pro theme? How would that affect membership access, payments etc?

I have activated Support Access if you need it.

    Hi Christyjoy,

    Welcome to the WPMU Dev community and thank you for your questions.

    I've changed the size selection and also changed the size of the photo but instead of showing a small thumbnail photo it's a HUGE photo at the top of the page.

    Could you please tell me exactly which photo are you talking about by sharing the screenshot of it?

    I checked your site but didn't see the huge photo.

    Also tell me how have you changed the size of it?

    There's also an error on the courses page:
    Warning: number_format() expects parameter 1 to be double, string given in /home3/azcrush/public_html/travelgeniuses.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 170

    I don't see it on your courses page http://yoursite.com.com/courses/ both in front end and back end.

    Please advise.

    Also this is a simple PHP warning and most of the time it doesn't affect functionality of site so it is nothing to worry about!

    Do you have WP_DEBUG set to true in your wp-config.php file?

    If you do then please set it to false.
    This will hide the warning messages and you will be able to use your site normally.

    I'd also like to have some courses included in the membership, and some more in depth courses at an additional fee. Is there a way to do this?

    You can achieve this using our below Protected Content along with the CoursePress Pro plugin.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/protected-content/#product-usage

    You will find information about how to configure them to achieve it in the following reply.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/coursepress-and-protected-content#post-791779

    How can I work with the CSS etc?

    You can develop custom CSS code and use it on your site by adding the following CSS code in the style.css file of your child theme or add it in your site using the following plugin.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/

    Is there a way to work with Genesis/Dynamik with your plugins?

    I have not tested it but i think it will work so just try using it.

    The bullets are messed up here: http://travelgeniuses.com/courses/build-your-own-travel-site/

    It seems like conflict issue on your site as it's working fine on my test site using default WordPress theme.

    To resolve the issue try adding the following custom CSS code in the style.css file of your child theme.

    .content .course-structure-block li label {
    float: none;
    width: auto;
    display: inherit;
    }

    And I'd like to change the order of elements etc.

    Could you please tell me how you want it to display so that i can help you to achieve it?

    And/or - Can I create a subdomain for my courses and use your CoursePress Pro theme?

    Yes you can.

    How would that affect membership access etc?

    You have to configure the membership settings on that site separately and it will be independent from other sites.

    Wow - thanks! I tried to edit my question, but you were too fast. :slight_smile:

    I found the issue with the error message. I deleted the dollar sign and added a decimal.

    This is the page with the huge photo: http://travelgeniuses.com/courses/
    I just want it to be a small thumbnail on the left. When I selected the image for the course I selected the thumbnail option but it didn't change anything. I created a smaller image in Photoshop and uploaded it but the photo stayed the same size, just more pixilated.

    I did create a new Wordpress install at http://www.travelgeniuses/academy and installed the CoursePress Pro theme on it and everything's gorgeous. I think the formatting issues I'm having are all related to not using the theme.

    In my install without the CoursePress theme the course layout shows up before the course description. I'd rather have the course layout display after the description. But honestly, the whole thing is just a huge, ugly, mess. I'm not even sure where to start to fix it.

    I'd also love to be able to remove the course dates, enrollment dates, who can enroll, and course language - and make the price larger or remove it when it's included in membership. Is there a way to do that? In my own theme or the CoursePress theme?

    Would User Synchronization allow my members to login once and access the main site and a separate wordpress installation with the CoursePress theme with one login? And with the same payment information? - so being able to pay for membership, which includes all of the smaller courses - and also being able to purchase separately the larger courses with the same login?

    I've also installed Events + and Directory and they each are asking for payment information but Stripe isn't an option like it is with Marketpress. Is there a way to use MarketPress to override their individual payment requests?

    Hi Christyjoy,

    Thank you for your quick reply.

    let's try to resolve your questions/issues one by one.

    You can display the image on that page with the same image size by using the following CSS code the same way as described in my previous reply.

    body.post-type-archive-course img.course-media-img {
    width: auto;
    }

    In my install without the CoursePress theme the course layout shows up before the course description. I'd rather have the course layout display after the description. But honestly, the whole thing is just a huge, ugly, mess. I'm not even sure where to start to fix it.

    The CoursePress plugin works great with the CoursePress theme but if you want to use another theme and it's not displaying well with it then you can customize it by creating CoursePress template files in your child theme and developing custom code.

    You can create a single course template file in your theme by copying it from the following path from CoursePress plugin directory and pasting it in your child theme root directory then edit it however you want.

    wp-content/plugins/coursepress/themes/coursepress/single-course.php

    I'd also love to be able to remove the course dates, enrollment dates, who can enroll, and course language - and make the price larger or remove it when it's included in membership. Is there a way to do that? In my own theme or the CoursePress theme?

    You can achieve this using the following CSS code in your theme.

    body.single-course .enroll-box-left {
    display: none;
    }

    For all other questions unrelated to this coursepress topic, could you please open a new thread for your new question here https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/#question to help keep support tickets separate?

    This helps to prevent any confusion (for us) as I'm sure you understand. Also this might help other members looking for a similar answer. :slight_smile:

    We would be more than happy to help you on your new thread related to those questions :slight_smile:

    Thanks Vinod. I finally got the CSS code you gave me to work. Not sure what the problem was but it's working now. I'm using Genesis with Dynamik so it took a minute to figure out exactly where it needed to go.

    I've pasted the template file in my theme but am not sure how to make sure Wordpress points to it when I create a course using CoursePress.

    I think I spent to0 much time on it this weekend and my brain is just fried. I'm going to take a day or two off and try to tackle it again later this week.

    In the meantime, if you have any pointers that will help me get going in the right direction, I'll be super grateful.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi Christyjoy,

    I've pasted the template file in my theme but am not sure how to make sure Wordpress points to it when I create a course using CoursePress.

    The WordPress handles pointing process automatically when it finds the pre defined template file like single-course.php so you don't need to work about it.

    You can find more information about WordPress templates on the following page.
