[CoursePress Pro] File download from google drive

I am trying to set up a download module with the path to a google drive file. It doesn't open up and allow the download.

    Hello Eric Johnson

    I hope you're well today!

The File Download module requires a direct link to a "physically existing" file. Google Drive doesn't provide such link but instead it gives a "share/download" link which in turn leads to a Google page where you can download the file from. It's a different way of handling downloads and a direct download would require use of Google Drive API that's not included in CoursePress. It would also require you to create a Google app first via Google Developers Console, provide CoursePress with API credentials and authorize it.

The simplest way around this is to just put the download link in a text as a regular link. This will open a "target page" letting your students download file. Would that work for you or is there some specific reason for putting it through the File Download module?

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi @Eric!

I was told by the CP developers' team that the CP3 is not going to support such download via the module as well, as there's not gonna be built-in GDrive API support. After the version 3 is released and "settled" there'll be plenty of space for new ideas/feature so I have let myself to move this thread to our "Features and Feedback" forum section as a feature suggestion for future.

    Best regards,
    Adam
