Create functions.php file in WordPress 2012 Child Theme

It is noted that there is no functions. php file in the Child Theme of my WordPress Default Theme 2012

I face challenges in creating functions.php.file in my Child Theme inspite of instructions given on how to create such file.

Can help to resolve this problem by accessing my website and create the functions.php.file in my Child Theme of WordPress 2012 please?

Staff access is active until 28 Apr 2015.

Thanks in advance for your help and support which will be most appreciated.

Have a nice week-end.

    Hello Benjamin,

I hope you're well today and thank you for your question!

First of all, I'm not able to create a functions.php file vie Support Access. But the question is: what are the problems that you experience? Are you not able to create the file at all or the file you've created isn't working properly (for example it's breaking your site)?

That being said, the functions.php file isn't necessary to create a child theme, unless you wish to use some custom functions or customize existing ones (though not all can be customized). If you could tell me what are you trying to achieve here, I think I'd be able to give you an answer on how to do it.

Could you then elaborate a bit on what are you trying to achieve, please?
