Daily theme - homepage changes

Hello,

Just had two questions on the homepage for the daily theme.

1. The Homepage feature consists of the tab, slideshow or video feature. At present you can only pick one. Is it possible to extend functionality to select two homepage features. For example, could you have the tab feature at the top with a video directly beneath?

2. Still on the homepage. Is it possible to create multiple pages, each with different information but all in the same style as the homepage.No sure how you would edit the pages though??

Bit of a late starter to all things wordpress so any advice/comments welcome.

Thanks

Nick

    Hi NickP and welcome to WPMU DEV!

    I'll have to ask the resident theme experts regarding your question number 1.

    As for number 2. if you're looking for the same general look but with different options or even different content, you could perhaps consider enabling the Multisite feature of WordPress and use separate sub-sites to create the slightly different looks.

    Short answer to 1 is probably but it would be a custom developer job you can't as the code stands. We'd strongly advise you look to the job board on this site for something like this if you are not experienced in coding.

    If you are though you can do something in child themes to get what you want probably. We can't advise as to that as we'd have to do it to advise and it goes a bit beyond the usual process scope.

    A good pointer would be to open up home.php:

    <?php
    			$featuretype = get_option('dev_buddydaily_featuretype');

    			if($featuretype == "video"){
    				locate_template( array( '/library/components/featured-video.php' ), true );
    			}
    			elseif($featuretype == "tabbed"){
    				locate_template( array( '/library/components/featured-tabbed.php' ), true );
    			}
    			elseif($featuretype == "slideshow"){
    				locate_template( array( '/library/components/featured-slideshow.php' ), true );
    			}
    			else{
    				locate_template( array( '/library/components/featured-none.php' ), true );
    			}
    			?>
    				<?php
    					$contenttype = get_option('dev_buddydaily_latesttype');
    				if($contenttype == "rows"){
    					locate_template( array( '/library/components/content-rows.php' ), true );
    				}
    				elseif($contenttype == "column"){
    					locate_template( array( '/library/components/content-columns.php' ), true );
    				}
    				elseif($contenttype == "wall"){
    					locate_template( array( '/library/components/content-thewall.php' ), true );
    				}
    				else{
    					locate_template( array( '/library/components/content-none.php' ), true );
    				}
    				?>

    This is saying 'if this content type set show this' .. you could build on from that to ONLY show the content types you wanted avoid the if.
