Default membership is not truly added as a subscription


I have a free membership selected as a default when someone registers through the website separate from the Membership registration.

When I check the subscriptions page I get this message:

"You do not currently have any subscriptions in place. You can sign up for a new subscription by selecting one below".

Is there a way to actually have the user signed up for the default subscription. Currently, they are receiving the correct access permissions, however, when they go to the subscriptions page, the plugin is forcing them to sign up to a level they are technically already in.

Any thoughts?

The reason there is a separate "registration" is because I am using Login Radius for social sign on. I have read that there isn't really a way to connect the Membership plugin to the social sign on. Do you suggest that it is either one or the other?
