design document in hand, what next?

I have a design document for the site I want to create. Can I share that with you and get your recommendations regarding:

1. To multisite or not to multisite?

2. and/or BuddyPress/bbPress?

3. Plugins or custom coding needed?

4. Best Themes for me?

Thanks,

Ron

    Vinod,

Wow! That’s great! Here is a very much abbreviated Design Document. (It’s a tad long. I just don’t know which features will turn out to be simple to implement and which will be simple.) Getting your recommendation for plugins, themes and custom work needed to get my website off the ground is really really nice. Ok. Here goes…

    Public Site (or area)

    Members-only Community Site (or area)

Each member can purchase a OnePage Site (I tried doing this as their BuddyPress Profile but I didn’t want all the BuddyPress buttons included.)

Public site visitors can search through list of OnePage Sites (resembles a BuddyPress Members Directory) by name, location, company, specialty… And then select a OnePage Site to visit. On the OnePage Site, the visitor can subscribe to the site owner’s MailChimp email list (But it’s actually a subgroup of my MailChimp).

There are ads in the Community Site and some in the Public Site. There are revenue-sharing ads on OnePage Sites (profits shared by me and the OnePage Site owner).

Affiliate sign-ups are available on all three sites.

E-commerce is available on all three sites (all selling the same stuff). On OnePage Sites, the profits are split between the OnePage Site owner and me.

The creation of the OnePage Site needs to be super-duper simple (e.g. Fill out a form). Also the OnePage Site owner needs to be able to go back and edit the site just as easily.

Up-sales are available to all Community Site Members. Up-sales are all about highlighting their listing when visitors are browsing the listings area (but not when visitors do a search). So, for example: a box around their listing, the frame around their photo changes in some way, a badge on their photo…

Members-only Community Site will have 4 levels of membership— one free and the others paid. The Top Membership Level can:

    1. participate in all social activity — groups, forums, etc

    2. Upload media into groups, forums, etc .

    3. Live Chat

    4. create a OnePager Site

    5. all premium theme & plugins included

    6. all up-sales included

    7. revenue-sharing ads available

    8. e-shop (with Member as Affiliate)

    9. multipage site (with member’s Community posts automatically brought in from COMMUNITY Site)

    10. blog

    11. personalized domain name

Members are automatically assigned to Groups based on the specialties they check off when they register/sign-up for membership. This same information needs to be used in the setup of their OnePage Site. (And the info in their BuddyPress profile and their OnePage Site needs to remain in sync.)

Posts: Some created by staff, some by members, some are shared on all three sites, some in the Community and Public sites and some just in the Community site. The majority of member-generated posts need to be via a form.

There’s an incentive system within the Community Site. Members can get points added to their Points Bank by participating in groups, forums, comments, post submissions and receiving “likes” from the community on submitted posts.

    MISC

    1. Promotions, surveys, polls, coupons, contests and fundraisers for Public Site and separately for Community Site

    2. Remove ads from Community Site as an up-sale or as part of higher membership level?

    3. Add courses and drip content at a later date?

    Thanks

    Ron

The above mentioned plugins / themes are not sufficient to develop your required functionality as it is a bit more therefore you can consider hiring a developer from https://premium.wpmudev.org/wpmu-jobs/ WPMU DEV job board to develop missed functionality.

    Thanks Vinod!

So, you are saying that Multisite (with Pro Sites and BuddyPress/bbPress) is definitely the way to go?

    Not a single site with a logged-out menubar/area and a logged-in menubar/area And a logged-out Profile (snazzy for visitors) and a logged-in profile (BuddyPress default)?

    Cheers,

    El Ron
