Directory Listing with Multisite

We are just testing Directory plugin, on new registration after the user press submit, it redirects the new user to the main WP multisite page with error”NOT FOUND Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found.” any thoughts on why this might be happening?

I think, we do have new user registration turned off for the main multisite. but should that be effecting a separate site and why should sub site, which has nothing to do with the main site, be redirecting to it :slight_frown:

    Hi @tk,

I hope you are well today and thanks for posting on the forum.

No actually in WordPress multisite if you disable the user registration then it affects all the sites in that multisite network including directory registration page.

it redirects the new user to the main WP multisite page with error”NOT FOUND Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found.”

I have tested it on my test site using latest version of Directory plugin but didn’t face any such issue, it worked fine for me without any issue.

Could you please share me the registration and the WP multisite page URL where the user is redirected after registration so that i can test it?

Is the WP multisite page URL here the user is redirected after registration exist in your site?

Also would you mind if I logged in to your site and did some troubleshooting? This might help get to the bottom of this faster. If this is ok, just grant me temporary admin access to your site by clicking “Grant Access” button in the WPMU DEV Dashboard Settings as described on the following page and reply on this thread after granting it?

    Hi @tk,

By default on WordPress multisite network the user registration is either enabled for all sites or disable for all sites.

There is already a feature request created for this feature on the following thread to enable/disable user registration on specific site in multisite network and this feature may be implemented in future as a plugin but We don’t publish ETAs to prevent disappointment if a deadline is missed(which in plugin development quite a frequent occurrence!).

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/enable-or-disable-user-registration-site-by-site-in-wordpress-multisite

By default when the user is registered in mutisite network then it only gets added to the main site and we have to use plugins like following to add them on each site.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/join-my-multisite/

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/multisite-user-management/

Could you please answer all the questions that i have asked in my previous reply so that we can get to the bottom of it faster?

    Regards,

    Vinod Dalvi

    Hi @tk,

Ok I cant figure this out, I am not even sure where to enable the multisite registration anymore!

You can enable user registration on your multiisite as described on the following page.

    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/daily-tip-how-to-turn-registration-on-and-off-for-wordpress-multisite/

When a new user registers (Directory Listing plugin) to create a listing account, after cligin register he’s regretted to http://MULTISITE>COM/pro-site/?action=new_blog he should be going to SUBSITE.com///// not multisite? whats going on here. Pls advise, I have gone over and over agin through all the plugins, proSites(installed on main site) , Directory listing plugin settings and still no joy!

It’s because by default in the WordPress multisite the user is registered on the main site and as you have enabled blog registration and using proSites therefore it’s redirected to that URL to allow users to create new blog if they want to.

You will see different behavior when you will disable the proSites plugin and new site registration on your site.

Thanks for the responce, loving the quality of replies I am getting here on WPMUDEV. rocking.

Basicaly here is what I realy want:

    – sub site registrations happen and complete on the subsite as a stand alone site

    – new blog/user registrations happen on the master site.

How can I achieve this. Much appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    Hi @tk,

    – sub site registrations happen and complete on the subsite as a stand alone site

    – new blog/user registrations happen on the master site.

I am not sure about the difference between sub site registration and new blog/user registration that you have described above so could you please explain it?

Also i want to tell you again that by default in the WordPress multisite the user is registered on the main site. In other words when the user is registered in mutisite network then it only gets added to the main site and we have to use plugins like following to add them on each site.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/join-my-multisite/

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/multisite-user-management/

When the user registers and creates a blog / subsite on your multisite network then he gets added to your main site by default as subscriber and to his newly created blog / subsite as administrator.
