Do I need BuddyPress if I'm using Membership?

I need to install a learning management system on a child site to offer online courses for my consulting business...thinking about using WPLMS http://themeforest.net/item/wplms-learning-management-system/full_screen_preview/6780226.

I am using the Salutation theme on the root site http://themeforest.net/item/salutation-responsive-wordpress-buddypress-theme/full_screen_preview/548199

Both are designed to work with BuddyPress. Since I have been using BuddyPress on my smallisimo.com site for over a year, I am not a fan. HOWEVER, the goal of the LMS child site is to offer courses, NOT build a Community.

These are my questions:
1) Should I switch to another Community plugin like WP UserPro? I like some of the features, and I could test to see if it works better than BuddyPress in general...even though the "Community" aspect of this new site is not as important.

2) Should I stay with BuddyPress since I am familiar with it, the Community here is not the focus, and I do like the way it looks in the new LMS?
