Does it matter if I forward a domain or use a mapping plugin?

I had a site hosted on HostGator using the domain flipproductivity.com. I am in the process of rebuilding my main website using the temporary domain glassworksdb.com for a multisite network.

I want to close the HostGator account entirely and just host the Flip Productivity information on a child site. So, I set up glassworksdb.com/flipproductivity.

I have forwarded the flipproductivity.com domain to that page, but I am wondering if that is a good idea. Would it be better to use the WPMU domain mapping plugin?

From what I have read, I am leaning toward just keeping the domain forwarded. Not sure that I care about being able to sell domains...sounds like it could be more time-consuming to learn how the process works.
