Domain Mapping login problem – only for Chrome and WPEngine

If Domain Mapping plugin is enabled on the site, you cannot login to it – even super-admin.

The login form just keeps reloading and there’s “403 (forbidden)” error in the browser console.

However:

– this only happens with Chrome browser

– only in “normal” tab (it works fine in incognito mode)

– it works fine in Firefox, Edge, Opera but also Chrome incognito

Further testing revealed, that it also might be related to some cookies, probably even specific to WPEngine installs, but that’s not 100% sure.

    Hello Stuart

    Hope you are doing well!

I’ve tested the issue from my end and couldn’t replicate the same. I’ve tested the issue with latest Chrome version. Would you please let us know if the mapped domain is added as a Parked Domain name? Or have you created a CNAME that pointing to your server’s IP?

The strange issue is that I am getting 404 while visiting the server’s IP of your site 35.***.**.197. Please let us know if your site is on CloudFlare.

Our developers are flagged in this thread. Please note, our developers’ response time is longer-than-normal compared to support staff response times.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Kind regards,

    Nastia

    Hi Nastia,

As far as I know, the A record of the domain is pointed directly at the WPEngine IP. My client uses a network admin to make changes to the dns. I was only able to request the A record change. As Adam and I both have the problem, there is something amiss. Here is what MXToolbox shows about the mapped domain. https://mxtoolbox.com/archive/?actionstring=dns:restorewarehouse.org&source=shareResults

Kindly let me know what other information I may provide to help you and your dev. Team.

    Cheers,

    Stu

Appreciate the feedback here, I’ve already pinged one of our Domain Mapping specialists to engage here, as it seems that this is a site-specific issue.

Me or another colleague of mine will keep you posted here about any development.

    Warm regards,

    Hello there Stuart,

hope you’re doing good today!

As a SLS member was able to login via Chrome successfully, I’ve also tried that and I hadn’t any issues logging in.

Have you made any recent changes in this installation?

Are you still experiencing this issue?

    Please advise!

    Warm regards,

    Dimitris

    Hello there Stuart,

hope you’re doing good today!

Could you please try to deactivate any Chrome extensions that you might use and check this again?

If this continues, please inform us about the operation system and exact Chrome version, just in case this is a niche case.

    Warm regards,

    Dimitris
