Domain mapping not working correctly

I have multisite set up with a copy of the original site at http://sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk. I have then set up a domain map for this sub-domain at sportsweek.co.uk. The backend works fine at http://sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk. However the frontend is redirecting to fantasysports.co.uk for the home page and to another domain (apat.com) for all other pages and posts - For example if the page should be http://sportsweek.co.uk/members/ it redirects to a 404 on apat.com (presumably it is looking for apat.com/members although the URL remains http://sportsweek.co.uk/members/ in the browser). apat.com has the same IP address as fantasysports.co.uk (109.169.19.5) which is what I have entered in the 'Server IP Address:' under the 'mapping options' tab.

David

    Hi, David!

Thanks for contacting us! Hope you’re doing great today

I was checking this and sportsweek.co.uk is redirecting me to apat.com, so it looks like you’re using A Record for a dedicated IP that is assigned to apat.com (if you try to open 109.169.19.5 directly in your browser you’ll see that it opens apat.com and not fantasysports.co.uk). Please note that in order to use A Record you need to have a dedicated IP that also points (opens) the main site of your Multisite, so fantasysports.co.uk should be the main site to be able to use A Record.

So, in this case, I suggest using an add-on domain instead. Please follow this steps to set it up:
    1. Add the sportsweek.co.uk as add-on domain in cPanel and point it to the main folder of the MU fantasysports.co.uk (after doing this you’ll see that it will open the main site fantasysports.co.uk).
    2. Mapp the domain sportsweek.co.uk under Tools > Mapped Domains > Map domain in sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk and now you’ll see that it opens sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk instead.

Please let me know if it worked.

    Merry Christmas!

    Kind regards,

    Violeta

    Hello David,

Did you change DNS servers (nameservers) of the domain sportsweek.co.uk to one that are used by your server? You need to change DNS server, then add domain as add-on domain (or alias in case of the Plesk) and there point the domain to where you have Multisite installed.
You can map domain only when that domain first opens your multisite main site. If that is not happening then mapping will not work.

A record is used only when there is dedicated IP and that IP when inserted in browser open main site of the Multisite. If IP opens another site or default server page, then A record can't be used.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

The DNS nameservers are pointing at the hosting correctly. Currently I have done this:

"1. Add the sportsweek.co.uk as add-on domain in cPanel and point it to the main folder of the MU fantasysports.co.uk (after doing this you’ll see that it will open the main site fantasysports.co.uk).
    2. Mapp the domain sportsweek.co.uk under Tools > Mapped Domains > Map domain in sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk and now you’ll see that it opens sportsweek.fantasysports.co.uk instead."

And all pages are bouncing from sportsweek to fantasysports.co.uk
