Domain Mapping & Pro Sites setup

Hi, hoping I could get assistance with setting up domain mapping and linking my domain reseller account. I'm lost as to whether I should be setting up the dashboard on my network dashboard, or on my individual site. Please help, really want to get the site going.

    Hi mYstA

Hope you had a wonderful day.

hoping I could get assistance with setting up domain mapping and linking my domain reseller account

Definitely we can help regarding this. But setting up Domain Mapping and setting up Domain Reseller Account is different. You can map domains from subsite Dashboard, but for configuring Reseller account, you have to do it from Network Admin.

We have a full tutorial with screenshots here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/domain-mapping/#product-usage

We also have an ultimate guide for Domain Mapping here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/domain-mapping-wordpress/

Can you please go through these and let us know if you are stuck at any certain point? We can guide you better then.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Rupok, thanks for the response. I am pretty certain that I have them setup correctly, but is there any way to have someone check it for me. I have begun to build sites on the network, but I did so using the network name (ex. somesite.gakinnect.com), now that I have finished the site and trying to redirect the new url to that subsite, i get a server error message. PLEASE HELP.

    Hello mYstA,

I'm checking your site but I don't see any mapped domain. If you dont want to share it here, you can leave domain name you want to map and name of the subsite in message for support (where you grant support access).

From what I see you don't have dedicated IP address that would point exactly to your main site. In that case you cannot use A record with IP address to point domain to your network and map it.
You will need to add your domain as add-on in your cPanel and point it to root directory of your main site - otherwise mapping will not work.

Let me know if this helps.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

      Kasia,
Thank you! The domain I'm trying to map is http://kaesentertainment.com. It's currently listed on my wp multisite installation as kaesent.gakinnect.com.

Can you elaborate on the dedicated IP address. I see it listed on my Cpanel, but where do I add this information? Is there a guide to doing this? "You will need to add your domain as add-on in your cPanel and point it to root directory of your main site - otherwise mapping will not work. "

Hi mYstA, hope you had a wonderful day.

Let's analyze your current scenario. Your sites are not at the same place and have different IP address:

    kaesentertainment.com >> 184.168.221.11
    gakinnect.com >> 192.185.31.182

First thing, both domains should point to the same server. So, when people enter kaesentertainment.com in browser, it will take them to gakinnect.com and then gakinnect.com will understand which domain to serve.

So a real IP is required on your main site. Even if you don't have a real IP, you can park your domain (which you are trying to map to your subsite) and set the target folder to your main site root folder.

I can try to do it on behalf of you if you want. But I'll need your cPanel and Domain Control Panel Credentials for doing that. Can you send me message with cPanel and Domain Control Panel access credentials through our secure contact form here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/

    Subject: "Attn: Rupok"
    - cPanel Username
    - cPanel Password
    - cPanel Login URL
    - Domain Control Panel Username
    - Domain Control Panel Password
    - Domain Control Panel Login URL
    - Link back to this thread for reference
    - Any other relevant URLs

Select "I have a different question" for your topic. This and the subject line ensure that it gets assigned to me.

I'm looking forward to hear from you and resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi mYstA, hope you had a wonderful day.

I do apologize for this delay in response.

Thanks for sending your credentials, cPanel credentials are working fine, but I can't access your Domain Control Panel with your given credentials.

Can you please check and provide us working credentials so we can jump in and try to solve this for you? I'll try to make sure this doesn't get delayed again. Please confirm here when you are done sending.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi Charles, hope you had a wonderful day.

I do apologize for delay in response. I've checked the issue. Added same IP in http://kaesentertainment.com/ DNS settings. But when I tried to add this domain in your cPanel, it was saying you have "0" parked domain available. Is it possible to get at least 1 parking domain to park this http://kaesentertainment.com/ so your server points requests to your main domain when people visit http://kaesentertainment.com/ ?

And DNS propagation may take upto 72 hours. So I'll check back this again in 72 hours. When DNS is fully propagated, and you can park http://kaesentertainment.com/ this domain in your cPanel account for gakinnect.com , mapping will work fine.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi Charles, hope you had a wonderful day.

I just checked your site again. The domain is now pointed to the main site properly. But I'm facing a different issue now. The subsite http://kaes***.gak******t.com/ is not opening. Did you do something on your end?

Please let us know if this is sorted out. I'll then point the domain to this subsite and it will work.

I'm looking forward to hear from you and resolve this issue as soon as possible.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi Charles, hope you had a wonderful day.

Sorry for my previous reply. Maybe it was my DNS issue. Subsite is opening now. So I've mapped the domain and it's working perfectly now. Please check the attached screenshot for reference.

Can you please check and confirm?

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi Rupok, sorry for the delay...yes, everything is working fine, and I greatly appreciate the help, but my question now is, what did you do? I have about 4 or 5 more that I need done, and would like to know for future reference.

    Thanks Again,
    Charles

Hi Charles, hope you had a wonderful day.

As far I can remember, you didn't have "Primary Domain" selected. I made "http://kaesentertainment.com/" as Primary Domain. But I can confirm you if you grant us Support Access once again.

Can you please do that and let us know so I can confirm you? And if you mention, which other domains need to be mapped, I can work on those too and try to fix those for ya. I'll document what changes I do for making them work this time.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi mYstA, hope you had a wonderful day.

Thanks for granting Support Access. I rechecked everything and found that adding an "A" record pointing to your server solved it. So I edited your "A" record for http://kaesentertainment.com/ to 192.185.31.182 and it started working after domain was propagated.

Follow this for your other domains and it will work. If not, please let us know. We will be glad to help further.

    Have a nice day. Cheers!

Hi guys, sorry to beat the dead horse, but I'm back at it. Trying to map multiple domains, and they are not showing as mapped. they have been parked using my cpanel, but do not populate under mapped domains when I check; only the one that rupok did is showing.

I have been trying to follow the guide as stated on this website, but I'm noticing some things missing, like the "domains" section listed under "Domain Mapping" Can someone PLEASE help me understand this thing. Support has been granted.

    Hello mYstA,

Article you are reading is wrong because its about different domain mapping plugin. Please see how to use our Domain Mapping plugin on usage page https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/domain-mapping/#product-usage
    and in guide:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/domain-mapping-wordpress/

    1. Network options for Domain Mapping are in Network -> Settings -> Domain Mapping
    2. You map domain on Subsite wp-admin in Tools -> Domain Mapping
I check your site and all the links are there, you need to add mapped domain there

    Screenshot from your subsite

    kind regards,
    Kasia
