Either the featured image isnt working when I select "override" or the date order is goofy

Either the featured image doesn't work in the events menu and in the event page when i select the "override" the theme box in the setting or if I unselect it, the events are arranged according to the date I posted them and in the event page the date posted number is huge and confusing. help!

Also, there is a bunch of extra stuff on the bottom of the event menu, when the override is selected.

    Hey @tony, hope you’re doing well today! :slight_smile:

    When you had “Override default appearance?” checked in Events -> Settings, did you try going through all of the templates available, to see if one of them worked properly?

    If that doesn’t resolve it, could you enable Support Access, so I could have a closer look?

    You can grant support access inside your site’s Dashboard by going to WPMU DEV -> Support, clicking on the Support Access tab, and then clicking on “Grant Access”.

    Please advise,

    Michael

    Now I see what you mean. You meant the font size is large, I was looking for a large number!

    To show the featured image, it depends on the theme. So, when you show the featured image, the date text is large, we can make it smaller by using css.

    Also, you said “there is a bunch of extra stuff on the bottom of the event menu”, so you want to delete some stuffs.

    So, now please share me a link of the page where you have featured image in Events+, I will try to give you some code to make the date font smaller and hide the stuffs from bottom.

    Cheers

    I want the overwrite to work because i’m not a fan of the tile layout of the event that the theme is providing. I want the plug in to work the way I thought it would. I’m not trying to sound snippet, but I’ve been getting frustrated with this plug-in now.

    I’m very much uncomfortable with myself messing with the css, can you be very specific with how.

    And again, my main problem with the layout is the featured images and the general layout of the page. I events to be listed the way it is on the video.

    Thank You.

    Hey @tony, really sorry for the delay here, didn’t mean to leave you hanging! :slight_frown:

    I’m paying special attention to this thread, so that way I don’t miss anything. Could you enable Support Access on your site once more, so I can dig into this, and do my best to get everything working for you?

    Please advise,

    Michael

    Hey @tony,

    I’m seeing that the extra information on the events listing page has been removed with that bit of CSS code, so that’s looking good.

    On the featured images issue though, that looks like we’ll have to go and modify the code a little. Can you please send in:

    – In the subject field add “Attn: Michael Bissett”

    – Link back to this thread

    – Include WordPress admin access details (just in case)

    – Include FTP log-in details

    – Include any relevant URLs for your site

    On the contact form, select “I have a different question“, this ensures it comes through and gets assigned to me.

    Thanks a bunch! :slight_smile:

    Hi there Tony,

    Hope you’re well today and thanks for your patience on this, sorry about the delays throughout.

    I’ve just been testing this and have found a solution which should get this working for you, I tried to change this for you, but see we only have WP admin and not FTP, if you could send along either FTP or cPanel, I’d be happy to do this for you.

    If not, open up events-and-bookings/default-templates/default/archive-incsub_event.php which you’ll find in cPanel > file manager, wp-content/plugins

    You’ll see that the file currently looks like

    <?php
    global $booking, $wpdb, $wp_query;
    get_header( 'event' );
    ?>
    <div id="primary">
    <div id="content" role="main">
    <div id="wpmudevevents-wrapper">
    <h2><?php _e('Events', Eab_EventsHub::TEXT_DOMAIN); ?></h2>
    <hr/>
    <?php if ( !have_posts() ) : ?>
    <p><?php $event_ptype = get_post_type_object( 'incsub_event' ); echo $event_ptype->labels->not_found; ?></p>
    <?php else: ?>
    <div class="wpmudevevents-list">

    <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?>
    <div class="event <?php echo Eab_Template::get_status_class($post); ?>">
    <div class="wpmudevevents-header">
    <h3><?php echo Eab_Template::get_event_link($post); ?></h3>
    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" class="wpmudevevents-viewevent"><?php _e('View event', Eab_EventsHub::TEXT_DOMAIN); ?></a>
    </div>
    <?php
    echo Eab_Template::get_event_details($post);
    ?>
    <?php
    echo Eab_Template::get_rsvp_form($post);
    ?>
    <hr />
    </div>
    <?php endwhile; ?>
    </div>
    <?php endif; ?>
    </div>
    <?php posts_nav_link(); ?>
    </div>
    </div>
    <?php get_sidebar( 'event' ); ?>
    <?php get_footer( 'event' ); ?>

    Change that to

    <?php
    global $booking, $wpdb, $wp_query;
    get_header( 'event' );
    ?>
    <div id="primary">
    <div id="content" role="main">
    <div id="wpmudevevents-wrapper">
    <h2><?php _e('Events', Eab_EventsHub::TEXT_DOMAIN); ?></h2>
    <hr/>
    <?php if ( !have_posts() ) : ?>
    <p><?php $event_ptype = get_post_type_object( 'incsub_event' ); echo $event_ptype->labels->not_found; ?></p>
    <?php else: ?>
    <div class="wpmudevevents-list">

    <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); ?>
    <div class="event <?php echo Eab_Template::get_status_class($post); ?>">
    <div class="wpmudevevents-header">
    <h3><?php echo Eab_Template::get_event_link($post); ?></h3>
    <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" class="wpmudevevents-viewevent"><?php _e('View event', Eab_EventsHub::TEXT_DOMAIN); ?></a>
    </div>
    <div id="eab-image"><?php if ( has_post_thumbnail() ) { // check if the post has a Post Thumbnail assigned to it.
    the_post_thumbnail( 'thumbnail' );
    } ?>
    </div>
    <?php
    echo Eab_Template::get_event_details($post);
    ?>

    <?php
    echo Eab_Template::get_rsvp_form($post);
    ?>
    <hr />
    </div>
    <?php endwhile; ?>
    </div>
    <?php endif; ?>
    </div>
    <?php posts_nav_link(); ?>
    </div>
    </div>
    <?php get_sidebar( 'event' ); ?>
    <?php get_footer( 'event' ); ?>

    Then add this custom css

    div#eab-image {
    float: left;
    }

    To your themes style.css

    As I said above, if you would like me to do this for you then could you please send through:

    – In the subject field add “Attn: Jack Kitterhing”

    – Link back to this thread

    – Include WordPress admin access details (just in case)

    – Include FTP log-in details or cPanel so I can make the changes.

    – Include any relevant URLs for your site

    On the contact form, select “I have a different question”, this ensures it comes through and gets assigned to me.

    Contact Us

    It’s also worth noting that these changes would be overwritten on a plugin update, we’re here to help. :slight_smile:

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards

    Jack.

    Hey @tony,

    I just went in and adjusted the templates for both the event archives & the single event page, and am now seeing the featured image showing up on both of them.

    I added this bit of CSS code to the single event page, just to move the image down a little:

    .wpmudevevents-contentheadermeta {
    height: 40px;
    }

    Could you verify that everything’s looking right on your end please?

    Please advise,

    Michael

    P.S. For those reading this later, here’s the code for the templates:

    events-and-bookings/default-templates/default/archive-incsub_event.php

    <?php
    global $booking, $wpdb, $wp_query;
    get_header( 'event' );
    ?>

    <div id="content" role="main">
    <div id="wpmudevevents-wrapper">
    <h2><?php _e('Events', Eab_EventsHub::TEXT_DOMAIN); ?></h2>
    <hr/>
    <?php if ( !have_posts() ) : ?>
    <p><?php $event_ptype = get_post_type_object( 'incsub_event' ); echo $event_ptype->labels->not_found; ?></p>
    <?php else: ?>

    Hello @tony

    This is because you have updated the plugin I think. Would you please try the suggestion that Mike suggested here? https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/either-the-featured-image-isnt-working-when-i-select-override-or-the-date-order-is-goofy#post-721087

    Please note that, this changes will be lost again in next update. So it’s worth to note down this changes somewhere and apply again after your updates.

    Please let us know.

    Cheers
