Error message when people comment on my posts?


I was wondering if anyone can help? I keep getting messages from people saying that they receive an error message when the comment on a post.

I've looked into the basics, but can't figure out why.

    So sorry to hear the inconvenience you are having. I went to your site and could see the issue in action. This is really weird and should not happen.

    Just to make sure no other plugin is causing this, can you please do a plugin conflict test? To know more about plugin conflict test, you can check this guide:

    If you don’t find any other plugin causing this, can you please check this workaround and let us know if it helps?

    To find out if your server is causing this or not, can you please create a clone (you can use Duplicator plugin for cloning) of your site and restore that in another server and check if the issue is also happening on the new server or not? If the issue is not there, then this is your server configuration related issue. In that case, can you please ask your host regarding this? They can give you best idea about this.

    If the issue is there on another server too, then can you turn on debug mode in WordPress? To enable it, open your wp-config.php file and look for define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);. Change it to:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

    In order to enable the error logging to a file on the server you need to add yet one more similar line:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

    In this case the errors will be saved to a debug.log log file inside the /wp-content/directory.

    Depending on whether you want your errors to be only logged or also displayed on the screen you should also have this line there, immediately after the line mentioned above:

    define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );

    The wp-config.php is located in your WordPress root directory. It’s the same file where the database configuration settings are. You will have to access it by FTP or SFTP in order to edit it.

    Past errors here. If file is very long, paste them to a text file and attach with your reply.

    Thank you for sharing the debug.log file, unfortunately it doesn't give any clue regarding the current issue. Could you please try switching to a default WordPress theme, and then try resetting the permalink, by clicking the Save Changes button, under Settings > Permalinks.

    Once done, please check whether you still get the same issue. I tried to access your website through support access, but it seems like I'm being redirected to a login page. If you have any security plugin enabled, please disable it so that we could access your website if the above instructions doesn't help.

    Thanks. Just a quick question. If I change/switch the theme, will I lose everything as it stands? Formating, etc.?

    Settings of your theme will stay in database, so when you do the theme test, you will switch back again to your original theme and everything will be the same.

    While testing on default theme look of your site will change – this is different theme. But test should be quick as you have to only post a comment.

    Of course – we strongly recommend taking a backup before doing any changes! We have also plugin for that

    Another solution is creating a staging site where you can test freely everything without worrying about breaking your live site.
