Exclude Pages from Navigation

I searched but could not find the answer in the forums. Please feel free to direct me if the answer exists elsewhere.

Running a Multisite with BuddyPress 1.2.7 on WP 3.0.5 and trying out the Blogs.MU child theme.

I've entered the following code in wp-content/themes/blogs-mu/header.php:

<?php wp_list_pages( 'title_li=&depth=1&exclude=220, 226, 228, 230, 232, 259, 262' ); ?>

inside of

<div id="navigation">

<div id="page-navigation">
<?php if( $bp_existed == 'true' ) { //check if bp existed ?>

<?php if ( function_exists( 'wp_nav_menu' ) ) { // Added in 3.0 ?>
<ul id="nav">
<?php locate_template ( array( 'navigation.php' ), true ); ?>
<?php wp_nav_menu( array('theme_location' => 'main-nav', 'menu_id' => '', 'container' => '', 'container_id' => '', 'fallback_cb' => 'revert_wp_menu_page')); ?>
</ul>
<?php } else { ?>
<ul id="nav">
<li<?php if(is_front_page()) { echo " id='home'"; } ?>><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>" title="<?php _e('Go back to home', TEMPLATE_DOMAIN); ?>"><?php _e('Home', TEMPLATE_DOMAIN); ?></a></li>
<?php wp_list_pages( 'title_li=&depth=1&exclude=220, 226, 228, 230, 232, 259, 262' ); ?>
</ul>
<?php } ?>

<?php } else { ?>

<?php if ( function_exists( 'wp_nav_menu' ) ) { // Added in 3.0 ?>
<ul id="nav">
<?php wp_nav_menu( array('theme_location' => 'main-nav', 'menu_id' => '', 'container' => '', 'container_id' => '', 'fallback_cb' => 'revert_wp_menu_page')); ?>
</ul>
<?php } ?>
<?php } ?>
</div>

</div>

But those pages are still in the navigation. What am I doing wrong?
