First Time with Buddypress Fun Theme

Yesterday i just translated the BP Fun Theme to Portuguese and works great.

Today i want to setup the entire site but i need your help.

Please visit

I will put some images to explain my doubts:

1º I want to reduce the space between the logo. How to do that, with CSS?
2º How to put the left Column Widget and Center Column Widget equal the buddypress fun theme demo?
3º How to put the Navigation bar: Home| Activity | Groups | Forum | ... in the top corner right, like the original demo?

I have the next problems:

I create a FAQ page, and add H1, H2 H3 tags to the text, but don't appear in the site live page.

  • Aphrodite
    • The Reaper

    mmm the demo seems to take the old version in which community items were at top. But have a look now it is no more :slight_smile:

    Now you can add 2 custom menus on top right and bottom bar but the community item are auto set as you see it on your site.

    for the logo i suggest to keep it like this since the top and bottom space are equal and comes nice :slight_smile: . Or reduce both top and bottom space.

    on Q2 what is your point exactly ? they are equal il width, but in hight that on ly depends on which widget you set in there

    Hum it seems that h1 h2 h3 are not define in the css. Did not noticed that... Since I used bold for the same purpose (same theme ^^)

    I'm from Portugal and sorry for my bad English explanation.

    What i mean in the question nº2 is i want my blog post to appear like the demo site. When i publish a post they don't appear automatically in the Left and Center Column Widget.

    I have to define in the CSS the properties for my h1, h2, h3 tags? did not come standard?

    hi vmaia

    to reduce spacing in header add this to _inc/custom.css

    #custom #top-header .top-h {

    to control the sliders effect open header.php and find line 102

    <script type="text/javascript">
    var $je = jQuery;
    $je(window).load(function() {

    change/edit to

    <script type="text/javascript">
    var $je = jQuery;
    $je(window).load(function() {
    effect:'random', //Specify sets like: 'fold,fade,sliceDown'
    animSpeed:500, //Slide transition speed
    startSlide:0, //Set starting Slide (0 index)
    directionNav:true, //Next & Prev
    directionNavHide:true, //Only show on hover
    controlNav:true, //1,2,3...
    controlNavThumbs:false, //Use thumbnails for Control Nav
    controlNavThumbsFromRel:false, //Use image rel for thumbs
    controlNavThumbsSearch: '.jpg', //Replace this with...
    controlNavThumbsReplace: '_thumb.jpg', //...this in thumb Image src
    keyboardNav:true, //Use left & right arrows
    pauseOnHover:true, //Stop animation while hovering
    manualAdvance:false, //Force manual transitions
    captionOpacity:0.8, //Universal caption opacity
    beforeChange: function(){},
    afterChange: function(){},
    slideshowEnd: function(){}, //Triggers after all slides have been shown
    lastSlide: function(){}, //Triggers when last slide is shown
    afterLoad: function(){} //Triggers when slider has loaded

    you can change the anime speed and pause accrodingly.

    Thank you very much.

    Please visit my site (url in the first post), i have other doubts:

    1º How to put a banner ad float right of the logo?

    2º What is my RSS feed for my blog post? can i put that in the Main Navigation bar?

    3º when i over the Community bar, how can i change the colors in the sub menu Members, Groups and Forum?

    4ª In pages and blog posts when i put h1, h2, h3 tags they don't affect the text properties. I have to add something in the css style-sheet?

    Thank you

    Hi vmaia,

    We'll help as much as we can but to be honest it sounds to me like you need to grab a book / have a good google on CSS :slight_smile:

    Basically if you start tweaking the CSS you'll find that you can accomplish all of the above without too much trouble, and in doing that you'll learn more about how to apply other tweaks (all of our designs are, of course, CSS based).

    An alternative would be to get some quick design help via wpmu jobs - am sure you can understand why we can't basically go through every little edit you require... we'd never have time for new themes or other support!

    Cheers, James

    add this to _inc/css/base.css

    .post-content h1 { font-size: 22px; }
    .post-content h2 { font-size: 20px; }
    .post-content h3 { font-size: 19px !important; }
    .post-content h4 { font-size: 18px; }
    .post-content h5 { font-size: 17px; }
    .post-content h6 { font-size: 16px; }
