Possible Autoblog Bug

For some reason, during the process of import there are occasions where after the attached image is added an additional 1px by 1px image titled “pixy.gif” is added as an additional post attachment.

Because it’s added last, it overrides the default and available image for post thumbnail. Simply going into the media library and deleting the fake gifs restores everything properly

It's hard to recreate but is a recurring issue we are facing randomly. It is also not feed specific, it will happen to all of the feeds. This is the subsite we have experienced it on recently and fixed http://skylarulrichmd.com/blog/

Here is a screenshot of the settings for one of the feeds. They are all feeds from the main site and all similar in settings. http://screencast.com/t/xl0xykub6x

    Hi Kimberly,

Out of sheer curiosity I thought I would look to see if I could spot the issue.

It appears that the Website Feed you are "importing" (remedypress.com) uses a plugin called Zemanta.

When a particular Blog Post gets created in RemedyPress.com using the Zemanta plugin it attaches a hidden div to the end of the content of the post. This hidden div adds a pixy.gif image.

Unfortunately because this hidden blank image is now part of the content html output of the particular post it gets added to the feed output of that post. Which is why Autoblog picks it up, and which is why its always the last image.

Perhaps there is a way for Autoblog to detect the Size of an image and therefore can "filter" those out? Lets say ANY <img> tags in Feed sized 1px by 1px should be ignored.. or something like that..

In the meantime, unfortunately it looks like any feed you choose to import via autoblog, which is generated by a website that uses the Zemanta Plugin will most likely generate an attachment of a 1x1 pixy.gif.

Hope that helps explain it a little bit.. Cheers
