Forced to use /whmcs

Does this plugin force us to have whmcs within a folder called whmcs? It wasn't until I did this that it started to show anything on the page.

I would rather have the installation within a folder called 'billing', 'clients' or 'members', something simple that users will remember, and if it does go a sub-domain, I wuldn't want it in any folder, just in the root.
