[Forminator Pro] GDPR compliance

GDPR requires that website visitors have certain rights, e.g. to view, download and delete their personal data a website has collected, for example when using a contact form. There are several plugins that do this for Gravity Forms (https://wordpress.org/plugins/gdpr-for-gravity-forms/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-gdpr-compliance/) – including excellent implementation of encryption of certain fields (https://codecanyon.net/item/gravity-forms-encrypted-fields/18564931).

GDPR will be in effect starting from May 25, 2018, and to be able to continue to use Forminator Pro, it absolutely has to offer the same set of functionalities as described above.

    Hello Vinko

Thank you for your concern. We are internally discussing this and hopefully, very soon we will reach to a decision.

But from next version, there will be an option to disable database storage in forminator so you can use only sending email.

    Have a nice day!

    Hello WPMUDEV,

I am quite concerned at the lack of progress or update on this ticket. We have several customers using Forminator Pro, as well as ourselves. it is our preferred form plugin. However, if GDPR isn’t embedded as an option in the plugin, we will have no alternative but to replace it with a competitor product. Which we would not like to do, especially given the time and effort required to do that.

Please could you give an update along with the intent to solve this issue for your paying customers.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Elliot,

I apologize for lack of updates in this ticket.

I checked our internal system and I can see that QA team almost finished with testing beta version of Forminator redgarding the GDPR compliance.

We did not abandon this matter in Forminator and it should be ready for GDPR in new release (depending on the QA team tests results).

    kind regards,

      Hi Smithwood,

Forminator is now compatible with GDPR. When you create a new form, you can see the GDPR element which you can use in your form. Please check the attached screenshot.

I believe this is what you are looking for. Please let me know if I missed anything. We will be very glad to help further.

      Have a nice day. Cheers!

    Hi there,

still got a question about GDPR compatibility of Forminator. I can see, that Forminator connects to http://www.gstatic.com for loading a script. I think, that may be complicated for GDPR compliance. And I can see, the Cookies are set – including a _ga cookie. google analytics are also complicated for GDPR compliance. Therefore it’s not the right plugin for EU user – am I right?

    Kind regards from germany

    Hello Sandra,

Please take a look at our documentation about our plugins regarding Privacy Policy https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/privacy/our-plugins/#chapter-4 – it describes third-party integrations in our plugins.

Forminator is now compatible with GDPR – GDPR doesn’t forbid sending data to third-party services but requires that information was very clearly communicated for users of the site (hence you have to have own Privacy Policy on your site where you provide information about cookies and google analitics) (please note this is a very simplified version there are other things like consent for forms, opt-ins).

If you are unsure if that is enough for users in Germany (I’m aware that law about privacy might be different) I can suggest consulting this with privacy law expert if it’s safe to use Forminator plugin on your site.

    kind regards,
