    Hello Nikki

I trust you are doing well today!

I guess that WordPress sents mail to your mail account using the PHP function. Some shared hosting providers do not have this function configured properly, or they have disabled it entirely to avoid abuse. The main reason why WordPress emails will not be delivered.

Would you please try an SMTP plugin to send emails? You can try one of the following plugins:

Connect one of the plugin with your mail server and test if this will work.

    I hope this helps!

I have tried wp-mail-smtp plugin, and it did not work in sending to ANY email address.
but what I don't understand is why it will send to other email addresses, but not to the Google Apps email set up for this domain name.

    Hi Nikki,
Hope you are doing good today : )

If emails are being sent on other email addresses then it means your web server it setup and configured properly.

The issue is on gmail apps end. The emails are going spams folder or Gmail servers are simply rejecting them due to authenticity.

First of all check if you can see those emails in spam folder. If you can find that then you need to change from/to email addresses to more relevant so it does not look spam. Either setup SPF record to tell google its not spams. Yoast wrote about SPF here that would help you understand:

Also, I found couple of discussion on gravity forms forum that would also help you figure out why its not sending/receiving the emails.

Take care and have a nice day
