Fresh Siteground Upfront installation fail

Referencing another thread (“Can’t Edit Upfront: “Please, hold on for just a little bit more”:wink:.

I am having the same issue. Your solution makes no sense to me:

placing the following snippet in your .htaccess file at the root of your site it will skip that rule and Upfront will work as normal.

<IfModule mod_security.c>

SecFilterRemove 00318

I don’t know how to do this, and I thus do not have a functional version of Upfront.

    Hi Kim,

    I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

    You will find the .htaccess file in the root directory of your WordPress install as descried on the following pages. You will find it in the same place where you will find the WordPress directories like wp-content, wp-admin etc. You have to make the file visible if it’s hidden to see it and edit it to add the above code at the very top of the file.

    Please advise if you have more questions.

    Best Regards,

    Vinod Dalvi

    Hello @mike

    Yes, some hosting has extra unnecessary security. Among of them some are very strict. I heard, in some hosting (apache server) even htaccess can’t be used!

    Siteground is good though, and you are right. Contacting their support team should unblock you :slight_smile:

    I am using HOSTWINDS VPS for my host.

    I was able to edit Upfont a few days ago, and now I get the same error as everyone else. “Please, hold on for just a little bit more” . I literally just downloaded this a few days ago, and installed it, and I edited it for several days, before getting this error. Nothing on my host has changed, and I know this because I run the VPS exclusively. My website is;

    I am going to uninstall this theme, and look for something else, I don’t have time to mess around with this. I have already spent about 12 hours editing this theme, and this pisses me off.

    I am also unsubscribing to WPMU, so I don’t think that I will be able to reply. But this is crappy coding and I am not happy. I usually don’t pay for themes. But the one time that I do, I get this junk.

    Also I should add, that I did modify my .htaccess file. Which looks exactly like this;

    # BEGIN WordPress

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteBase /

    RewriteRule ^index.php$ – [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

    <IfModule mod_security.c>

    SecFilterRemove 00318

    # END WordPress

    I have checked and checked, all of the suggestions do not work.

    I have to fix this. I can’t wait days or weeks like some people have for a reply.

    Uninstalling the WPMU theme, and cancelling my membership.

    I just wanted people to know, that this solution does not work for everyone, and I am on a different host. I have applied the fixes suggested, but that has not worked.

    Hey @ryan Thompson

    Thanks for posting in this thread, however it might be best if you open your own, even if the issues seem closely related. That way it will remain independent of this one and ensure it doesn’t confuse issues here if this thread needs reopening again by the author.

    I am sorry the issue you are facing, so please create a new thread where any of us check your site and troubleshoot the issue.
