Frontend inline editing or better widget drag and drop?

The drag and drop widget area in the WP admin is kinda confusing for the non-technical. If at least the widget zones somewhat resembled the frontend layout it would help a great deal.

What do you think of something like these?

    Hi Basem,

You know, that's something I've always thought would be great to see in WordPress, it's just that all that type of functionality seems to be totally contingent on the theme being used, so it seems it's best done through a theme framework like Carrington, etc.

I use Headway myself, another drag-and-drop theme framework myself and find it much easier to throw a website together that way. However, I think beginners with WordPress would get lost amidst all its options.

I haven't actually tried Carrington Build yet but it does look simple enough. There are others too, like Platform Pro and iThemes Builder.

As for the default widget section at Appearance > Widgets, I think possibly the biggest issue is that there's generally not an easy way to know "where" a widget area is on site. The descriptions of the areas may help, but it still can be confusing for users.

Just a few thoughts on it!
