    Hi @Paua

Welcome to the forums, and Happy New Year too! I hope you're having a great day!

Here is Google's own tutorial on setting up your install in the cloud:

And here's a step-by-step tutorial some kind soul posted:

If you need more help on this, I believe my colleague @DavidM has some experience with the cloud... if not, I'm sure he'll correct my presumptuousness

    Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for your response!

As a response to Google's tutorial I found another one.

I've tried using the tutorial set on Github:

This seamed very useful. But setting up MySQL on my local machine turned out to be a true hell and hasn't brought me any luck so far.

I've tried the slideshare tutorial as well but haven't been able to use that one either due to a error in the application refered to. Using the name Jeroen Wilms I am now in contact with the presenter of that slideshow to figure it out from that end.

@DavidM, can their be any way that you can help me from WPMU's end to set this up?

I hope you guys can help me?!

    Kind regards, Jeroen Wilms

    Hi again @Paua

Whoa, nobody has dropped in to lend a hand here yet? Terribly sorry about that. :slight_frown:

Unfortunately, I have zero experience with Google Cloud so can't be of much help here. But I've just launched a general appeal to the rest of the support team, so someone should be by shortly.

    Hi @Paua and @Patrick,

Sorry for not catching this sooner! I actually have used App Engine for some basic Python stuff in the past but nothing advanced.

I do recall the database aspect of it all being a pertinent issue since, after all, it doesn't include a database! And going through it again right now, I'm not seeing how to easily handle the database

Could I ask though, were you just trying it out for the free aspect?

If so, I was wondering, have you heard about AppFog?

They'll host WordPress sites (though using a relatively complex sub-domain like, files, database and all, totally for free, up to a limit.

Just wanted to mention that in case. Meanwhile, I'll see what further I can find about setting up a database with App Engine.
