Global Header, Navigation and Footer

HI,

I've installed the New Blog Template plugin and am wondering if there is some way to achieve the effect I'm going for. We're a school and each teacher is going to have a blog in our multisite network. Each teacher site will use the same theme, navigation, header and footer of the main site to provide a cohesive experience for parents. Ideally teachers would only edit the content areas. The navigation should remain linked to the main site so that if we add or changes pages on the main site, the "sub-sites" automatically pick up those changes.

What's happening now is when I use the plugin to clone the template, it's not preserving the navigation menu structure and instead creating nav menus one level deep so instead of a page being test.com/apply it's now test.com/myname/apply.

Let me know if what I'm trying to do is at all possible.

Thanks

Hi j0emv and welcome to WPMU DEV!

New Blog Templates itself wouldn't provide a way to keep sub-sites synced or updated as such. It's a good idea admittedly, but something that would best be achieved by another plugin, perhaps a branched version that can handle such syncing.

What you're asking for can perhaps be achieved easily with a bit of theme customization though, rather than relying on another plugin.

Both of these would require a bit of custom work though you could take a look at getting that done via the job board.
