Google Chrome shows insecure warning on site with SSL

Running this site in modified Scribe theme. Have had issues for some time (including with a previous theme) with a warning in Chrome and Firefox that the home page might be insecure- just the exclamation mark and only on the home page- nowhere else.

I’m struggling to understand why as the site has a current SSL.

Any ideas out there why this might be the case?

I notice that sometimes the home page does show as secure in Chrome occasionally and always does in Safari.

Many thanks.

    Hello Paul,

I hope you’re well today and thank you for your question!

I checked your site in both Chrom and Firefox under Windows, using “https://” and there are no “insecure” warnings for me. I understand that it’s not that they are there all the time though so it looks to me like that’s either some kind of caching or maybe:

is there any kind of 3rd-party/external code embedded/included to the homepage that’s dynamically fetching the content from elsewhere?

    Best regards,

    Hi Adam

    Thanks for this.

I would know how to begin checking for caching or fetching content on the homepage.

I’ve had a look at the displayed media and that’s all stored on the server.

I’ve decided to trail Really Simple SSL (a plug in I’ve tried before but stopped using). It does a few things apparently like changing any links to https dynamically and locking the home URL to https

It seems to have worked in that it has removed some of the errors that show up in Chrome and firefox (security warning and social icons not loading properly).

Personally I would prefer not to use a plugin as a fix but this would suggest http styles or scripts somewhere on the homepage if I’m not mistaken.
