Grant extended permision keeps hanging, menu not working

Hi,

When configuring this plugin, I move from the app-connection data to the next 'Grant extended permision' part.

That part keeps showing the 'loader image'. Als the wordpress-admin submenu dropdown (the default wordpress admin menu subitems) stoped working.

When moving on (skipping that part) other part of pages are incomplete (for example user selection field of auto post facebook part).

    Greetings mortydot,

    Thank you for bringing this significant issue to our attention.

    Could you please post a screen shot that shows the part of the Facebook API basic info and the Website with Facebook Login areas from the API?

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

    Greetings mortydot,

    Thank you for the screen shots, it is greatly appreciated.

    However I obviously did not make myself quite clear enough to what I need to look at here as you did fine but they are not the shots I was looking for.

    I need the ones from the Facebook side that show the basic settings and the website settings like mine shown in the screen shot below which I mad just to show you what I need to see.

    Please advise.

    Cheers, Joe

    Greetings mortydot,

    Absolutely that can be the cause of what is causing our grief.

    Lets try this for the big fix and kill on this issue.

    For the App Domain please enter your URL top level domain only i.e. mydomain.com without www or anything else, just the TLD as shown in my screen shot and further on down the same thing just the TLD without the www BUT with the http:// also as shown in my screen shot.

    Please advise if this indeed gets us going.

    Cheers, Joe

    Alright, the domein entering in the box is done! Seems that AVG do not trach option whas disabling some facebook cookie that whas used by the field in the form, done now (see printscreen).

    But the problem of the endless loading bar, where I started the topic for is still there...

    Greetings mortydot,

    Thank you for your additional input, it is certainly appreciated as well as the screen shots and I can clearly see that our settings are now correct.

    Though the settings are indeed correct, I believe there may be another Facebook issue happening again considering that I have am installation that i am having the same problem with at this time i.e. the never ending extended permissions problem.

    Therefore I want to know how to manually set the permissions, I see it on Facebook so lets see what the lead developer has to say toward that end.

    Please don't change anything - your installation is correct as is mine and i am sure it is not working right now and yesterday too. But I had to get your settings fixed anyway.

    Now I will see about getting the lead developer in here for us so we can indeed get this issue resolved.

    Though this may take a bit longer then a normal ticket, I will try to get him in here asap.

    Cheers, Joe

    Greetings mortydot,

    I have been in touch with the lead developer of the Ultimate Facebook plugin directly working this issue with him.

    We have come up with the following Hot Fix which replaces one file, worked on my installation, and now I am offering it to you for a test drive and please let us know right away if it indeed fixes your permissioning with Facebook issue.

    Looking forward to your detailed reply.

    Hi Joe,

    Thank you for your replay. I think I have to disapoint you.
    The problem is still there.

    *Cach and history in internet explorer fully cleared.
    *Loader still endless
    *information icons for the popup baloons (when you first time use the config page) still floating in lower left screen

    Kinds regards,
    Sven

    Greetings Sven,

    Wow that is really kind of crazy because when I replaced the file, cleared my browser cache, then even a pop up window appeared that wanted my Facebook log in info and as soon as I logged in I was indeed able to grant permissions.

    Are you running cache on your hosting?

    Is the Pop Up blocker enabled in Internet Explorer (I was using Firefox version 15.0)?

    Please advise.

    Look forward to hearing from you in any event.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe,

    Yes, also checked on a compleetly never for this website used computer.
    Problem still there.

    This is the JS that the source returns when opening admin-page with browser (to validate its your updated version:

    (function ($) {
    $(function () {

    function check_perms () {
    	var $perms = $(".wdfb_grant_perms:first");
    	if (!$perms.length) return false;
    	var query = "SELECT " + $perms.attr("wdfb:perms") + " FROM permissions WHERE uid=me()";

    	FB.api({
    		"method": "fql.query",
    		//"access_token": FB.getAccessToken(),
    		"query": query
    	}, function (resp) {
    		var all_good = true;
    		try {
    			$.each(resp[0], function (idx, el) {
    				if(el !== "1") all_good = false;
    			});
    		} catch (e) {
    			all_good = false;
    		}
    		$("img.wdfb_perms_waiting").remove();
    		if (all_good) {
    			$("p.wdfb_perms_not_granted, div.wdfb_perms_not_granted").hide();
    			$("p.wdfb_perms_granted, div.wdfb_perms_granted").show();
    		} else {
    			$("p.wdfb_perms_not_granted, div.wdfb_perms_not_granted").show();
    			$(".wdfb_grant_perms").show();
    			$("p.wdfb_perms_granted, div.wdfb_perms_granted").hide();
    		}
    	});
    }

    $(".wdfb_perms_root").append('<img src="' + _wdfb_root_url + '/img/waiting.gif" class="wdfb_perms_waiting" />').show();
    $(".wdfb_grant_perms, .wdfb_perms_granted, .wdfb_perms_not_granted").hide();

    if (typeof FB == 'object') {
    	FB.getLoginStatus(function (resp) {
    		check_perms();
    	});
    }

    $(".wdfb_grant_perms").click(function () {
    	var $me = $(this);
    	var perms = $me.attr("wdfb:perms");
    	var locale = $me.attr("wdfb:locale");

    	FB.login(function () {
    		window.location.href = window.location.href;
    	}, {
    		"scope": perms
    	});
    	return false;
    });

    });
    })(jQuery);

    Problems still there

    Greetings Sven,

    Thank you for your update regarding this issue, however you never mentioned if the site is running cache?

    And it is certainly possible for a pop up blocker to be causing a problem on many computers is they are indeed turned on.

    Other then the above it looks like we are going to indeed need to wait for the lead developers input.

    Hopefully he will make it in here sooner then later.

    Cheers, Joe

    Hi Joe,

    As far as I know, the site runs no cach for the admin.
    The given source of the jss is ment for showing that your updated version is returned to the broswer.

    No popup blokker as wel.
    The not working menus, and notification popup icons for as far as I can judge a JSS error result...

    Looking forward to the reaction of the lead developer.

    Greetings Sven,

    Thank you for your additional input Sven, it is of great use when trying to troubleshoot.

    Hopefully the lead developer @Vladislav will be in here shortly and spot something that I am missing to get you on your way to using this plugin.

    Greetings Sven,

    Thank you for the inquiry, it is appreciated.

    We would have both seen it in here if he had, but unfortunately not to date.

    As you mentioned that you have this issue repeating throughout your installations, and I do not have it on any of my installations.

    However, I just though of something, is the "curl" module installed on your hosting server?

    Please advise.

    Thank you for your question, it is appreciated.

    By the way have you tried the file I attached above by any chance?

    No the lead developer has not yet made it in here yet to address this issue though I truly hope it is an issue with our plugin rather then the non stop incompetent issues with Facebook we have been dealing with since March when they started changing everything to force people to have their advertising in everyone's face.

    Sincerely, Joe

    Hi Joe,

    Thank your for your reaction.
    I'm wondering how this will be compensated with the license that is payed to use this plug-in.
    What if my one month license ends? I'm not going to pay for a renewal when the plug-in doesn't work. Is the topic being closed after my month? Our do I get a license until this bug is being fixed so I can actually use it?

    I'm even offering a test environment to help trace the problem to server/apache/PHP level to improve the fix time.

    Kinds regards,
    Sven

    Greetings Sven,

    Thank you for this great question, it is truly appreciated.

    I honestly have no idea about this subject concerning billing, but you claim there is a bug and I have never mentioned no such thing nor can I confirm there is - it works flawlessly on my test production servers which are not related to WPMU Dev in any way, shape, or form and I will swear to that in a court of law and certify that this is indeed the case and of course I can prove it.

    However, I cannot certify or prove that other hosts or browsers or browser settings of others are not stopping this plugin from working nor Facebook itself. Though I do not think the following is the issue, but all it takes is a pop up blocker on the browser and the same symptoms are going to appear.

    http://developers.facebook.com/bugs/280811108698311?browse=search_50490a8ea81a50443665994

    What about the Facebook Developer himself claiming 866 unresolved issue?
    If you want reference to the Facebook Dev's statement about unresolved issues it is right here: https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/fbs-change-in-api-for-remote-access#post-227743

    Or what about Facebook not being able to get their own plugin to work because they have screwed things up so much --> And their own plugin not working is right here:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/ultimate-facebook-not-connecting#post-235801

    Please do not get me wrong that I am trying to point the finger at anyone in particular, and though I work with WPMU Dev I am not an Employee, I am an independent contractor, and the truth be known is at this moment I do not know where the problem is at and our developer has been jumping through these pathetic Facebook Hoops since March and at the beginning of every month since then them idiots change something else.

    So before we can start finger pointing or calling out that there is a bug, we indeed need to find out from the lead developer where the problem is at and what can be done to get around it wherever the cause of the issue may be.

    The most I can hope for at this point is that the lead developer makes his way in here soon and that he can spot a way to fix this up so it works under the conditions it faces in your unique installation and environment. Hopefully sooner then later.

    Sincerely, Joe

    Hello,

    The latest plugin release (v2.5, just released) has, among other things, an update in permissions checking javascript which should hopefully solve this issue. Can you please give it a go and see if it helps? Also, please try to clear your browser cache and cookies after the update, so we're sure we're dealing with latest state.

Thank NAME, for their help.
