gzip compression

gzip compression is not possible even if the apache settings (mod_deflate for Apache) are configured.

    Hi arvenio

    How are you doing? Hope you had a great day.

    Hummingbird uses module "deflate" to enable compression, so, first of all, could you please contact your hosting provider and ask them is this module enabled on your server?

    If they confirm that it is enabled and working fine, you should go to HummingBird -> GZIP compression. There you can find instruction how to enable it on your site. Also, please, make sure that there are no other plugins with the same function enabled on your site.

    If GZIP compression still not properly work, you should double check the followings (again you may need to contact your hosting provider for these steps):
    1. Check if there's a Varnish cache running on server (or any other server-side caching solution) and make sure to purge/empty it

    2. Make sure that PHP is configured to support zlib library and that zlib output support is enabled; there's a php.ini setting for this that should be set to "on":
    zlib.output_compression = On
    In case it's set to "off" you will want to change it to "on" and restart Apache.

    3. There's also a slight chance that not all required MIME types are set to be handled by "mod_deflate" module; it should support at least "text/html", "text/javascript" and "text/css".
