Hoping some more

Hoping some more in the know wordpress multisite expert can help me get to the cause of a broken url in my multisite. For some reason, when entering my network admin from subsites (randomly I should point out), the url has a http// incroporated in the url which requires me to constabnly delete.

I am also seeing a similar error on a pingdom speed test result, if you look at the file errors. You can see the same incorrect url.

Anyone who can help me resolve would be much appreciated. It only is on one multisite install.

    Hello Rich,

I hope you are well today. I'll be happy to help you with your issue.

Looking at the symptoms, there are a few possible causes. One being an issue with a theme (very likely since one of your themes is throwing a 500 Error), it could be a configuration issue, or it could be an .htaccess issue (less likely).

    Hello Rich,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I need just a little more clarification on this issue.

In my tests, it seems the domains you are having issues with are the ones who have multiple mapped domains associated with them. In particular, the domains that have the www and non-www variations mapped. energiavital and inanutshell seem to be particularly problematic.

Could you try removing the variation you do not want from domain mapping and see if this resolves your issue? For example, if you want the domains to always go to www, remove the non-www variation from domain mapping.

    Best regards,

    James Morris

I have removed the multiple mapped domains as requested from http://www.energiavital.co.uk (as in removed the non www version). Has no effect and the same problem still exists.

Please see the attached screen shot which is from a pingdom speed test which still shows the connection error and the broken link http://http//eevee.co.uk/dm-sso-endpo…

Where or why the additional "http//" is in the url being the problem.

    Hello Rich,

I've gone through your site quite a bit and fixed a number of minor issues with Domain Mapping and your .htaccess which has resolved some redirection and login issues with your subsites. However, I've yet to resolve the http// issue.

The exact process to reproduce this issue now is this:

If you login to the primary site, or a subdomain URL of the primary site, all your admin menus work correctly and everything seems fine. However, if you login to any site that has a mapped domain, using http://mappeddomain.tld/wp-admin/ then when attempting to access the Network Admin Dashboard from that subsite Dashboard, then the http// portion is added to the URL string after https://.

I've been able to login via FTP and wp-admin, but I've been unable to login to cPanel using the credentials you sent me. Could you double check those credentials and resend them to me via email so I can dig into this issue further for you?

    Best regards,

    James Morris
