How do child themes work re FrameMarket and multisite installations

Hi, I am looking to use the framemarket theme on one of my subsites on a multisite installation.

I came across the article https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/frame-market-theme/#usage but it is a little outdated. I use the WPMU DEV plugin so can instal themes straight from the WPMU dashboard.
A couple of questions:
1. How do parent themes & the child theme gridmarket work/interact at the subsite level.
2. Which theme parent or child should I be enabling at the subsite level
3. How do I go about making changes to the theme at the subsite level
4. If I like the changes made at the subsite level, can I use this framework to apply to other subsites.

Thanks

    Hi Matt,

    Thanks for your questions.

    1. How do parent themes & the child theme gridmarket work/interact at the subsite level.

Since gridmarket is a child theme of framemarket then it will inherit all css code and functionality available at framemarket.

    2. Which theme parent or child should I be enabling at the subsite level

You should enable the child theme but the parent theme should be in /wp-content/themes/ even it isn't activated because the child will inherit the files from the parent theme.

    3. How do I go about making changes to the theme at the subsite level

For css customization on subsite level then I suggest this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ to locate the option go to Subsite Dashboard -> Appearance -> Custom CSS

then for php customization I suggest this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/

    4. If I like the changes made at the subsite level, can I use this framework to apply to other subsites.

When you customize the child theme at 'file level' - it will affect all the subsites that use the child theme.

Let me know if it helps!

    Kind Regards,
    Calvin
