How do I map www.whatsinmyshop.com to www.sheepwalkhosting.com/shop

I own http://www.whatsinmyshop.com and I have a WP multi site at http://www.sheepwalkhosting.com. I would like people to go to http://www.whatsinmyshop.com but really go to http://www.sheepwalkhosting.com/shop and still see http://www.whatsinmyshop.com in the browser address. I would like new sites people create to be http://www.whatsinmyshop.com/mynewshop and not http://www.sheepwalkhosting.com/shop/mynewshop and for them to see http://www.whatsinmyshop.com in the sign up page.

Sorry for all the information, but I do not know how to proceed. Perhaps I need the Domain Mapping plugin?

Many thanks

Marc

    thanks for the post.

    hmmm

if you park the domain whatsinmyshop, then redirect it to your wordpress root. in your CPanel

that should theoretically work. Google will hate it though. as it’ll have duplicate content on 2 domains.

you don’t need domain mapping for this i don’t think.

however from what you describe, it might be a bit more work, but it would be more preferable to just change your multisite to use the whatsinmyshop domain, though that would mean editing wp-config, & several places in the DB too, then restructure the permalinks. it’s a bit of manual work, but it would be better for Google & SEO as a whole. unless you still want to actually use the other domain at the same time.

    hope this helps

    Thank you Vaughan

I parked http://www.whatsinmyshop.com as an add on domain and pointed it to http://www.sheepwalkhosting.com/shop but then the other pages such as http://sheepwalkhosting.com/shop/features-and-pricing/ do not follow through.

I see what you mean by Google having 2 sites pointing to the same content and that cauing a problem

I still want to keep http://www.sheepwalkhosting.com for other projects and so it seems I am a bit stuck. I thought the Domain Mapping plugin might help as I could change the Cname or whatever to point to correct places.
