How do I minimize redirects?

Hi, I was hoping someone can help me with this. I have been trying to sort out things on my website to try and improve the speed. Typically it seems that something has happened to make it worse. Since today, I have started getting 'minimize redirects' suggestions in both Pingdom Tools and GTmetrix, which I have never had previously. And from the links it gives me, I have no idea where to find these or fix them. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you.

    Hey there Clare,

Do you have the url for the site you are having problems with?

I see you have one site registered with us, but I ran it through pagespeed and gtmetrix but don't see the minimize redirect issue.

If you would prefer not to post the url in a public forum then you can send it in privately via our contact form: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/#i-have-a-different-question

    Send in:

    Subject: "Attn: Tyler Postle"
    -site url
    -any other relevant information
-link back to this thread for reference

    Look forward to hearing back!

    Cheers,
    Tyler

    Hey Clare,

Looking at your sites page source, I'm not exactly sure what all that ad serving type files are for. I don't see any ads on your site and it doesn't look like it's hosting your images. It could be left over from when you and your hosting provider tried to set up the static server for your images. You may want to ask them.

Another option would be to run a plugin conflict check. Deactivate all your plugins and then run it through pingdom again and see if it still has all those redirects, they might be coming from an unnecessary plugin.

The google analytics links look fine, and what you can do to avoid that is wherever you pasted in your Google Analytics tracking code, just make the url "https://". That way it won't need to redirect to https:// from http:// like it is now.

Make sure you clear any cache on your site before running it through pingdom again.

You also mentioned this in your email:

And lastly, I've been trying to back up my website via Snapshot but it has been taking ages, and the last two attempts have brought up errors.

Can you create a new thread on that and include the errors you were seeing? Then we can look further into it  https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/#question

We'll continue in this thread with the speed issues if you still have further questions on that.

Another thing I've noticed as well is that GTMetrix tells me that keep-alive is not enabled, but when I have checked via Varvy it says it is. I'm not sure if that's got anything to do with it either.

This shouldn't be related to the redirect issue you are seeing but it is something you should ask your host about as far as the inconsistency of one place saying it's off while another says it's disabled. It's server side so they will should be able to help with that

    Look forward to hearing back.

    Cheers,
    Tyler
