How do I set up "Domain Mapping" without a dedicated IP address

Hello,

I already installed WPMS and "Domain Mapping", followed the instructions but the plugin still don't works. Still got the alert message.

Always read that is preferred to have a dedicated IP address, but that is possible without one also.

Any clue on what should be my next step?

    Hello there

    Welcome to WPMU community!

I hope you are well today and thanks for asking the question.

Yes, you can set it up with out a dedicated IP address.

Guess you have 2 domains a.com and b.com. a.com is main domain and hosted in a server. You have setup a multisite in a.com. Now you have a subsite test.a.com that you like to map with b.com.

Your host(a.com) has a nameserver. Give the same nameserver to the domain panel of b.com. Set b.com as an add-on domain in the host(a.com) and point to the root of the wordpress installation (where wp-config.php file is).

In the main site, in domain mapping settings provide your site IP address (not mandatory but highly recommended). And from subsite domain mapping settings, give your domain and save. It should work.

Do not forget to update sunrise.php

Please let me know if it is helpful and feel free to ask more question if you have.

    Cheers
    Ash
