How do you edit the widgets of an inactive theme?

Hi,

I am running A/B split tests on two identical themes, that have modified widgets.

How do you edit the widgets of an inactive theme?

This would save me from activating the other theme, then screwing up the A/B split test results.

Cheers,

Johnny

    As a temp workaround,

    - declared 2 widgets in the functions.php file
    - save the content in widget editor for both widgets
    - copy paste theme in themes folder
    - activate duplicate theme
    - save the content in widget editor for both widgets
    - then from ftp client, edit the template.php to use either widget1 or widget2

Then method allows me to quickly create the alternate widget without losing data

    Is there a quicker way?

    Cheers,

    Johnny

    Greetings Johnny,

Actually that is a pretty clever process that you came up with to test this out in combination with the A/B Theme plugin - I admit I am impressed.

Though your method appears to be a bit cumbersome - just the same I cannot think of a better way to do this type of testing.
