How to add group video chat to appointment

I’m setting up a site where a personal trainer can set appointments with the Appointment+ plugin, and then for the appointment they would use a group video chat (Hangout, Skype, other?) for the appointment. Out of the box this can be accomplished by manually using something like skype and “calling” the user that has the appointment, but I’d like to make it cleaner. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

    Hey there.

With custom development I could imagine a number of ways including reminders, sending out a conference link 10 minutes prior. Auto connecting the client using something like XMPP with video conferencing.

You might even be able to automate something with the Google Hangout API:

    https://developers.google.com/+/hangouts/api/index-all

    Or Skype:

    http://dev.skype.com/

I think the best thing is to sit down, think about what you want to achieve and how you’d like it to function and then chat with a developer who is highly familiar with the systems you want to integrate.

There are also tons of services like this:

    http://zingaya.com/

So your customers can call from your site. Some services do video and some don’t, you’d need to research those further.

Maybe send out some reminders before the appointment, then get them to load your site and call in?

There are a good number of services like this. Just hide it from normal view, so that only people with appointments can call. Maybe even look at some kind of page they can only access for their slot.

Is that the sort of direction you were thinking about?

    Take care.
