How to nullify any possibility of publishing a media url that is pasted in any Status field ?

That is all 3rd party video/audio links (youtube, vimeo etc) and all external self hosted video/audio links (.mp4 etc..) - these are videos on a personal/business site including aws s3)?
I only want to allow users to post such media links in the wp media library "from URL" tab made for that (which is used through video tab of Status plugin).
One of the reason is that when not posted in this standard manner the video player does not resize responsively. (This is tested in an environment of 0 php error log and 0 error in Debug bar plugin and with wp default theme). I am sure there are other reasons since I believe the wp media library external url embed is the only right way to go about publishing embedded media that is not self hosting on my own site.

    Hi cif!

Can I ask for a few more details? I just tried posting a video link in Status on my own site, and the video is properly responsive in whichever tab (status, video) I post the sharing URL.

Can you perhaps grab a couple of screenshots of the ill-sized video on a page here so I can take a closer look?

    Thanks!

Hi cif, I don't have any self-hosted video or audio, I relied on the first part of your statement which implied this issue was also occurring with third party sites, like YouTube and Vimeo, so that's what I tested.

I was hoping to see a screenshot to get a better understanding of why the video is being distorted for you, since I'm unable to replicate it on my own site.

    Thanks!
