I run twenty twelve Theme with Buddypress with membership plugin.

I want to show the categories to vistors but I dont want them to access the posts.

    Hi there @Andre

Welcome to the forums, glad to have you aboard!

If you want the post excerpts to be visible to visitors in the category archives, but redirect to the protected content page if they try to access them, the safest way to do that is by using the more tag rules.

You can set a no access default rule in Membership > Options > Content Protection > More tag default. You can set it to "Yes - visible" or to "No - not visible".

Then you can override that default in your access levels by dragging the more tag rule to either the positive or negative rules area depending on what you set as the default.

Of course, the more tag rule is only effective if you have actually been using the more tag in your posts.

If you have not, and want to use this technique for all posts, try this handy little gem of a plugin to add the more tag automatically to all posts, even ones you have already published:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/auto-more-tag/

I hope this helps! And thanks for being a member
