.htaccess file changed on multisites

Hi there.

I had some problems with my cloud server with the hosting company and now discovered that a couple of my .htaccess files changes to the below:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Baiduspider [NC]
RewriteRule .* - [F]

Any idea what this mean? Its "greek" to me.

    Hi there @Ezra Steenkamp,

Hope you're well today and thanks for your question.

It's re-writing the user agent baidu spider, using a F flag (which is for forbidden in apache), so it'll rewrite to a 403 page, then [NC] is a no case flag in apache, so that it doesn't matter what case the letters are in

Baidu is a known spider that causes server issues by ignoring the no crawl rules in robots.txt, it's basically a rouge bot

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!

    Kind Regards
    Jack.
