[Hummingbird] Hummingbird Issues

Hummingbird is reporting that several images need optimization but they have all already been smushed. It's causing some client confusion. That's no bueno.

    Hello tylonius

    I hope you are well today.

    Regarding the Defender error you noted in the Support Access notes box… Your current PHP memory limit is set to 256M and Defender ran out of memory trying to process files. You can adjust this limit by adding the following directives to your wp-config.php file just before the line /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

    // Performance Enhancements
    // Increase WP Memory Limit
    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');

    This should resolve the issue with Defender.

    Regarding the image optimization issue you are seeing…

    This is due to using the wrong sized image for a particular content placement. For example, the image RKB180014WebRes-1024×683.jpg is placed in the content such that it’s rendered at 407x271px, but it’s natural size (and what is referenced in HTML) is 1366x910px. This means that CSS or JavaScript is being used to “shrink” the image to fit the location it is defined for.

    This is why Hummingbird is reporting that it needs to be optimized. You can learn more about how to improve this at the following link: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/compress-resize-images-wordpress/
