I am currently

I am currently hosting a site (mountloretto.org) on servers through Justhost. I’ve recently upgraded to WordPress servers through bluehost. Rather than move everything over to the new servers, am i able to simply point the site to the new servers by changing namerserves within justhost? also if that is the case will this affect anything that’s currently configured and working correctly Ie. email addresses etc.

    Hello anthony,

I hope you are well today.

Moving your website could affect everything, depending on your setup. I’m afraid there’s no one “right” answer here as there are many setups and without knowing more about your particular setup it’s difficult to say exactly what you would need to do to move everything without downtime.

However, based on the common scenario of moving over everything (WordPress site, database, files, emails, DNS, etc), the following guides will be most useful.

If both hosts use cPanel, you’re in luck. Migrating using cPanel is by far the easiest method as it transfers everything, including email. You may have to do a DNS update on the domain, but that’s about it. cPanel can do the rest.

To move from cPanel to cPanel, just contact your web host to discuss your options. Some hosts provide an automated tool that easily performs this task. Some hosts will even perform this transfer for you.

If you’re looking to only move specific parts of your website to another host (for example: keep email on one host but the site on another) the following links will provide more information:

I hope this clarifies a bit. Let us know if you have any further questions. We’ll be happy to help!

    Best regards,

    James Morris
