I am looking into setting up Multi-DB - we have a multisite

I am looking into setting up Multi-DB - we have a multisite install that is projected to have around 100 sites installed, but each site will include very large databases of location data (10K - 50K listings) that will generate pages in addition to thousands of photos, RSS Aggregation from several sites and other data. In other words, the sites will get very big, very fast, quite unlike a typical blog. Will we get any performance boost out of splitting the databases using Multi-DB or will it hinder our setup?

    Hello there Ben,

Thanks for posting on the forums.

Multi DB is best when you are planning to run high number of sites.

If you install Multi DB plugin, it will allow you to send separate sites to separate databases, but again one site's data will go to one database only.

So if you want to keep the site databases separate, then yes, you can install Multi DB plugin and do that.

I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions on the same.

    Cheers, PC
