I am not sure anyone knows the answer --- I went through the task of creating 256 DB's in order to be ready for growth --- a good experience overall -- because it would postpone the time to move to the cloud --
But in reading about Amazons tools -- their RDB handler -- will automatically create multiple instances of the DB and then balance the traffic through the load balancer ---
and if so -- if I start with 256 DB's -- I am going to have to pay for 256 SQL instances --- rather than 1 and then pay extra when volume requires additional instances ---
Does anyone totally understand this? I was involved in a huge project on amazon --- but I did not start wiht 256 DB's --
Am I correct here? -- that is that the cost of moving 256 DB's to the cloud would be cost prohibitive -- and raise my initial fixed cost -- 00 and it would be better to let their handler spin off instances when needed??????
